François Demachy is a legendary French perfumer who has permanently shaped the perfume landscape. Born in Cannes and raised in Grasse (the cradle of perfumery), he became acquainted with flowers, resins, and essences at a young age. After a brief detour through the medical field, he chose his true calling and became an apprentice at Charabot. He worked for many years at Chanel, where he was instrumental in numerous innovations, and later became Dior's in-house perfumer.
As Perfumer-Creator for Dior (2006-2021), he created iconic fragrances such as Sauvage, Miss Dior, and Dior Homme. He also collaborated on the production of perfumes for Fendi and Acqua di Parma . His work demonstrates a deep respect for natural raw materials from Grasse and a quest for balance between tradition and modernity. In the documentary "Nose," we see his creative process and quest for pure, honest materials. François Demachy remains a master who seamlessly captures emotion, technique, and aesthetics in fragrance.
