François Demachy is a legendary French "nose" who has permanently shaped the perfume landscape. Born in Cannes and raised in Grasse (the cradle of perfumery), he became familiar with flowers, resins, and essences at a young age. After a brief detour into the medical world, he chose his true calling and became an apprentice at Charabot. He worked for years at Chanel, where he was instrumental in countless innovations, and later became the in-house perfumer for Dior.
As Parfumeur-Créateur for Dior (2006-2021), he created iconic fragrances such as Sauvage, Miss Dior, and Dior Homme. He also collaborated on the production of perfumes for Fendi and Acqua di Parma. His work testifies to a deep respect for natural raw materials from Grasse and a pursuit of balance between tradition and modernity. In the documentary Nose, we witness his creative process and his search for pure, authentic materials.
