Jacques Cavallier-Belletrud is a French master perfumer from Grasse, where he grew up in a family that has been connected to the art of perfumery for generations. His father and grandfather were also perfumers, making scent a natural part of his life from an early age. During his career, he created more than eighty fragrances for prestigious houses such as Dior, Givenchy, Issey Miyake, Yves Saint Laurent, and Lancôme, and he became one of the most influential noses in modern perfumery.
He is best known for his innovative use of the molecule Calone, with which he shaped iconic marine fragrances such as Acqua di Giò and L’Eau d’Issey. This fresh, transparent style would strongly influence the perfumery world of the 1990s. Since 2012, Jacques Cavallier-Belletrud has been the in-house perfumer for Louis Vuitton, where he developed the olfactory identity of the house.
