Michel Girard (1957) is a third-generation French perfumer, born and raised in Grasse, the birthplace of modern perfumery. From an early age, he was surrounded by the scent of flowers and the region's rich perfume tradition, which laid the foundation for his future career. After completing his training in Grasse, he began his career at Robertet and subsequently built an impressive track record at Quest International. He has been with Givaudan since 1998, where he rose to the position of Senior Perfumer.
Throughout his career, Girard has created fragrances for some of the world’s most renowned brands, including Givenchy, Gucci, Valentino, Cerruti, Acqua di Parma, and Paco Rabanne. His best-known creations include Cerruti pour Homme, Cerruti 1881 Black, Givenchy Extravagance d’Amarige, and Fico di Amalfi for Acqua di Parma. In addition, he played a key role in developing the iconic men's fragrance 1 Million by Paco Rabanne, a scent that became a global success and one of the best-selling men's fragrances of all time.
