Olivier Cresp (1955) is one of the most influential French master perfumers of modern perfumery. Born in Grasse, the cradle of French perfumery, he grew up in a family connected to the cultivation and trade of fragrance raw materials for generations. His great-grandfather cultivated roses and jasmine, while his grandfather traded in natural ingredients. From a young age, Cresp accompanied his father to the flower fields around Grasse, where he developed an exceptional olfactory memory and his love for perfume was born.
After training in perfumery, Cresp began his career at Firmenich, where he rose to become one of the most successful perfumers of his generation. Throughout his career, he has created hundreds of fragrances for leading perfume houses. Among his most famous creations are Angel by Mugler, Black Orchid by Tom Ford, and Peoneve by Penhaligon’s. In 2012, he also received the French distinction Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres for his contribution to art and culture. In 2018, together with his family, he founded the niche perfume house Akro, where he could further develop his passion for personal memories and addictive scents.
